Lens Installation

Replacement lens installation varies by frame construction. Confirm the exact frame model and review any model-specific instructions included with the product before you begin.

Before You Start

  • Work over a clean, soft towel in a well-lit area.
  • Wash and dry your hands.
  • Compare the new lens shape, tabs, vents, and notches with the original lens.
  • Inspect the frame for cracks, deformation, loose hardware, or damaged grooves.
  • Do not use metal tools, high heat, boiling water, or excessive force.

Full-Frame Styles

  1. Hold the frame close to the lens you are removing.
  2. Gently create space between the frame rim and lens while pressing the lens outward from the back. Follow the direction used by the original lens rather than sharply bending the frame.
  3. To install, seat the lens at the first matching corner or notch and work gradually around the rim.
  4. Confirm that the entire lens edge is inside the frame groove with no raised areas or gaps.

Half-Frame and Semi-Rimless Styles

  1. Identify whether the lens is retained by frame tabs, a groove, or a retention line.
  2. Release one attachment point at a time without overstretching the frame or line.
  3. Align all tabs, notches, and grooves before applying pressure.
  4. Secure each point gradually and check that the lens cannot move inside the frame.

Shield and Wraparound Styles

  1. Note the order of the center, nose, and outer mounting points before removing the original shield.
  2. Release mounting points one at a time while supporting the shield close to the point being released.
  3. Align the replacement shield with every slot and tab before seating it.
  4. Seat the mounting points in the same sequence used for removal. Do not sharply twist or fold the shield.

Final Safety Check

  • All edges, tabs, and notches are fully seated.
  • The lens does not rattle or move.
  • The frame is not twisted and both temples close normally.
  • There are no cracks, chips, pressure marks, or unusual distortion.

Stop If It Does Not Fit

If excessive force is required, stop. The frame model, size, or lens version may be different. Do not trim, grind, heat, drill, or permanently modify the lenses. Send your order number, frame code, and clear photos to support@fxllens.com before continuing.
